Corticosteroid Injection

Corticosteroid (steroid) drugs are a man-made version of hormones usually produced by the adrenal glands. They can be used to treat pain and inflammation, and certain types of arthritis. They can be given as an injection, at low doses, and are helpful in treating many joint and soft tissue problems. A local anaesthetic is often given at the same time, which helps to reduce the discomfort for a few hours and often helps with diagnosis.

Diagnostic Local Anaesthetic

Anaesthetic injections can be used to identify the source of an individual’s pain and confirm a diagnosis. This can be helpful when more than one pathology is present and clarification of the source of the pain is required.  Local Anaesthetic can also be used to lift a scarred tissue away from another site such as when the sheath of a tendon becomes scarred and stuck to the tendon beneath it. This is called a ‘paratenon strip’ or ‘sheath strip’ and can be very helpful in alleviating pain and scarring

Sinovial HL 64 2ml

Sinogel 3ml

Sinovial HL 64 injections are used to treat joint pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis. These injections contain hyaluronic acid, which helps lubricate and cushion joints, improving mobility and reducing pain. Sinovial HL 64 combines low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, offering dual benefits: the low molecular weight enhances absorption and immediate pain relief, while the high molecular weight provides long-lasting lubrication and joint protection. Administered directly into the affected joint by a healthcare professional, Sinovial HL 64 aims to enhance natural synovial fluid, providing relief for several months.

Sinogel injections alleviate joint pain and stiffness from osteoarthritis. They feature a Hybrid Cooperative Complex (HCC) of highly purified high molecular weight hyaluronic acid and unsulphated chondroitin. This combination enhances joint lubrication and cushioning, improving mobility and reducing pain. The high molecular weight hyaluronic acid offers long-lasting lubrication, while unsulphated chondroitin supports cartilage health and reduces inflammation. Administered directly into the affected joint Sinogel provides both immediate and sustained relief. It's a minimally invasive treatment option for managing symptoms without surgery.

Ostenil Plus Injection

Ostenil Plus is a solution containing hyaluronic acid. It is injected into the space in the joint that contains synovial fluid and works by restoring the normal balance between the breakdown and production of hyaluronic acid. This effect means that it can decrease pain and stiffness and improve the other symptoms of osteoarthritis. These improvements usually last around 6-9 months. Some patients may require a series of injections and some injections can be delivered on a one-off basis.  There is currently no research evidenced to suggest any long-term harm to tissues from having repeat injections of hyaluronic acid.

Ostenil Tendon Injection

Specifically designed for use around tendons. Ostenil Tendon contains a solution of Hyaloronic acid which acts as a lubricant when applied to the tendon sheath. It enhances tendon gliding, reduces adhesions and promotes tendon recovery. It provides pain relief by masking pain receptors and prevents the passage of inflammatory cells . It can be used to treat a wide variety of tendon issues in both upper and lower body.

Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy involves the injection of natural irritant substances such as Glucose (sugar) and a local anaesthetic into joint spaces, ligaments and/or tendons The aim is to provoke inflammation, increase collagen fibre organisation and increase growth factors responsible for promoting tissue healing.   Overall somewhat theoretical however there are a number of studies now showing some positive value. Research quality is still of low value and certainly more studies are needed.

Traumeel

Traumeel is a safe and natural alternative for conventional anti-inflammatory injections such as corticosteroids.  Traumeel injection contains multitarget homeopathic components that support and accelerate healing, shorten the inflammation interval without blocking the process, reduces pain and provides sustained recovery from injury. Traumeel Injection Solution is indicated for the treatment of symptoms associated with inflammatory and degenerative processes such as muscle, tendon, ligament injury, bursitis and joint pain associated with arthritis. It is particularly popular in the management of sports injuries to reduce recovery time following injury.

Hyaluronic Acid Injections
What is the difference?

Ostenil Plus

Best for patients needing straightforward, high molecular weight HA supplementation with proven efficacy.

Sinogel

Suitable for patients requiring a multi-component treatment approach for more comprehensive joint health support, especially in cases with higher inflammation or cartilage damage.

Sinovial HL

Ideal for patients needing longer-lasting relief with a high viscosity solution, particularly in more severe osteoarthritis.

Ultimately, the choice among these injections should be made by your healthcare professional based on a thorough evaluation of the patient’s specific condition, medical history, and treatment goals.

Ultrasound Guided Injections

Joint injections for Arthritis include corticosteroid injections, also known as a steroid joint injection or cortisone injections. They have been shown to be effective in relieving pain, particularly in the short term.

Hyaluronic Acid joint injections have been reported to show longer lasting pain relief. We are an approved clinic for both Ostenil and Sinovial joint injections, both companies are a highly regarded international manufacturers and suppliers of Hyaluronic Acid.

We use ultrasound guided joint injections, that allow us to view accurate needle placement. These intra-articular joint injections ensure the medicine is going where we want it to.

We perform many joint injections for Osteoarthritis knee pain, and we can use a combination of local anaesthetic, Corticosteroid and Ostenil Plus, Sinovial or Sinogel to good effect.

Patients often ask, are joint injections painful? In our experience with use of local anaesthetic and careful needle placement, we often find the patient feels very little if anything.
