Ultrasound Guided
Focused Shockwave Therapy

Utilising the latest technological advances to deliver a non-invasive therapeutic stimulus in the form of an acoustic signal

This mechanical stimulus is converted into a biological reaction which has been highly effective in treating both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Focused Shockwave Therapy

Utilising diagnostic ultrasound we scan the tissues to detect the area of concern and map the focal region including target depth.

The PiezoWave Extracorporeal Focused Shockwaves are generated outside the body and then delivered to the focused target area deep inside the body. These focused shockwaves reach their peak pressure precisely on the target tissue.

This mechanical stimulus known as mechanotransduction induces biochemical changes in living tissue which, on a molecular level affects gene expression and can promote cell growth, protein synthesis, release of growth factors, stimulation of stem cells and lubricin production.

This can also exert an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial effect whilst promoting microcirculation and metabolic activity.

Shockwave Therapy Uttoxeter

We use shockwave therapy for a variety of painful tissues to great effect. These include lower back pain, Achilles tendon pain and knee tendon pain.

Foot pain can be particularly stubborn. We have found using shockwave therapy for plantar fasciitis in combination with our Physiotherapy exercise program works very well.

We use shockwave therapy for tennis elbow and have found combining a steroid injection and physiotherapy exercise program offers fantastic results.

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy is excellent for managing tendonitis and we use this frequently as part of our pain management service in Uttoxeter Staffordshire.
